“Happy Chinese New Year:” Echoes of Ancient Tang Poems Performed at Lincoln Center, New York

On the evening of January 7, New York time, Echoes of Ancient Tang Poems: iSING! Suzhou with the Philadelphia Orchestra “Happy Chinese New Year” showed the charm of Tang poems to the audience at Lincoln Center, New York, following its premiere in Philadelphia. The concert is jointly supported by the China International Culture Association, the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China, the Permanent Mission of the People’s Republic of China to the UN, Bank of China, the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, and the Suzhou Municipal People’s Government.

Those watching the performance included Csaba Korosi, President of the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly, Ambassador Zhang Jun of the Permanent Mission of the People’s Republic of China to the UN, Consul General of the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in New York, representatives of the permanent missions of more than 10 countries to the UN, including France, Egypt, and India, as well as personages from all sectors of New York.

The event carries on the tradition of China and the United States conducting academic and cultural exchanges and reflects the significance of building a bridge for communication between different cultural groups. The “Echoes of Ancient Tang Poems” concert showcases famous poems of the Tang Dynasty in a new way. It is an interaction between classic and modern art and between eastern and western civilizations.
