The English version of History of Chinese Cinema was launched during the 9th Silk Road International Film Festival in Xi’an on January 3.

　　It is the common mission of Chinese books and films to better tell Chinese stories. The publication of History of Chinese Cinema in English will meet the academic needs of Chinese film studies overseas, enhance the voice of Chinese film academic studies, especially film history studies, on the international stage and boost the cultural, historical and academic confidence of Chinese films in the new era.

　　At the launch ceremony, Ding Zhitao, deputy editor-in-chief of Foreign Languages Press, and Ding Yaping, the author, jointly unveiled the new book and presented it to the representatives of the executive committee, academia and film and television industry. History of Chinese Cinema is one of the important works of the “China Studies” series launched by Foreign Languages Press. It is the first English book on the history of Chinese films published in China for international academia and overseas readers.
