Beijing Confucius Temple

Beijing Confucius Temple, also known as “Former Teacher’s Temple”, is located in Guozijian street, Anding Gate, Dongcheng District, Beijing. It is a place for offering sacrifices to Confucius in the Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties. The inscriptions on the stele for Jinshi (advanced scholars) in Beijing Confucius Temple is an important document for the study of imperial examination system in ancient China. After more than 700 years of historical and cultural accumulation, the cultural relics of Beijing Confucius Temple have become important historical materials and objects for the study of imperial examination system, Confucius and Confucianism, architectural forms, as well as cultural connotation.
